Downtown San Diego also hosts the San Diego Padres at Petco Park, which was built only back in2004 to replace Qualcomm as the Padres home field. Pedicabs decorate the streets of downtown San Diego, as they transport Padre supporters on game day. The 100 year old historic Western Metal Supply Company building has been renovated and incorporated into Petco Park, with the left field foul pole attached to the southeast corner of the building. Little Italy is located on the northwest side of Downtown San Diego and boasts great Italian restaurants and captures Italian culture.

Horton Plaza, one of the largest mall’s in the nation, and is located in downtown San Diego. Horton Plaza is characterized by its unique zig zag shape and its wide selection of shopping.
Cortez Hill is located on Ash Street in downtown San Diego and was named for the famous El Cortez Hotel. Views from this area include Balboa Park, San Diego Bay, and the urban buzz of the Gaslamp Quarter. This is one of San Diego’s oldest neighborhoods and the some of the original Victorian architecture still exits.
