Never snorkeled before? The gentle leopard sharks won’t mind, and neither do we! Try our Leopard Shark Encounter, a 50-minute snorkeling lesson and opportunity to swim with harmless leopard sharks. We’ll fit you with a wetsuit, fins, mask and snorkel. Your expert snorkel guide will teach you the snorkeling basics on dry land, and then you’ll swim with the magnificent leopard sharks in the sandy flats of La Jolla Shores. Look for shovelnose guitarfish and stingrays too! After the tour, you may keep the snorkeling gear and wetsuit to play in the ocean for the rest of the day.

The La Jolla Ecological Reserve encompasses several unique ecosystems, including rocky reefs, sandy flats and kelp beds, which provide a great snorkeling opportunity to witness a wide variety of sea life.
Experienced snorkelers who know how to handle a pair of fins may rent snorkeling equipment including mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit for only $20 for the day. Equipment is also available separately: Mask & snorkel are $7, fins are $7 and wetsuits are $10 each.
