La Jolla Cove and the La Jolla Ecological Reserve are the ideal spots for snorkeling in San Diego. The waters of La Jolla Cove are usually very calm, amounting to good visibility and great conditions for snorkeling most of the year. The La Jolla Ecological Reserve encompasses several unique ecosystems, including rocky reefs, sandy flats and the kelp beds, which provide a great snorkeling opportunity where a wide variety of sea life can be witnessed while snorkeling in the waters of La Jolla.

Snorkel with the Leopard Sharks — 50 Minute Snorkeling Lesson

Never snorkeled before? Try our Leopard Shark Encounter, a 50 minute snorkeling lesson and opportunity to snorkel with the harmless leopard sharks! We'll fit you for a wetsuit, fins, and mask & snorkel before your Leopard Shark Encounter begins! Your snorkel guide will teach you the snorkeling basics on dry land. Then, swim with the seasonal leopard sharks along the sandy flats of La Jolla Shores.

These leopard sharks, can grow up to seven feet in length, and migrate seasonally in the sandy flats of La Jolla Shores. You may also see shovelnose guitarfish and sting rays! Your guide will navigate through these shallow waters to spot these leopard sharks. At the end of the snorkel tour, you may keep the snorkeling gear, and wetsuit for the rest of the day.
